Les Wines

We source fruit from Elephant Mountain Vineyards in the Yakima Valley, Coyote Canyon Vineyards in Horse Heaven, and Oracle Vineyards in the Dundee Hills, Oregon, to produce about 80 cases a year. Those wines often include:

  • La Peugeot, a top-secret blend of Cab, Cab Franc, and Merlot
  • Deux-Chevaux, an equally top secret blend of two as yet unnamed grapes
  • La Piquette (code named “the Pinto”), a “second wine” made from the cake of another grape ferment
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Cabernet Franc
  • Merlot
  • Syrah
  • Pinot Noir
  • Pinot Gris — new for 09!
  • Rosé of one or more of the above

All wines are aged about a year in 1-4 year old French oak, except Syrah and La Peugeot, which we give a little extra time to think things over before bottling at the 18-month mark. All of our wines, with the possible exception of the Pinots, are fermented with “wild” yeast — that is, no industrially cultured yeast is added, so the ferment rides on the yeast that live in the winery and come in on the grapes themselves.

This year is our first focused foray into white wines, with a Pinot Gris from Westrey’s Oracle Vineyards. David and Amy make a lovely Gris from it, so if we don’t screw it up, hopefully we can do the same.
