Bottle cleaning
Fellow Garagiste Kate found us 30 cases of used bottles a winery wanted to give away. Thank you, Kate!
Still, we’ll want to make sure they’re bottling-ready, so while I’m pretty confident they’re as clean as the winemaker says, just to make sure I want to get a small crew going to rinse and then SO2-spritz them before we use them.
I’m thinking we’ll do it outside and:
- A preliminary rinse
- Use a cool gizmo I bought to quickly spritz some SO2 up into the bottle
- Dunk all the bottles in it
- One more quick rinse
- Set them up upside down to dry
They don’t need to be bone dry for our bottling, so that should be okay.
For this event:
- Please bring your mask. Not for COVID, but just to stay comfortable when you’re near the SO2
- Wear comfortable shoes and bring clothing you can get a little wet
