First crush of 2020: Syrah
We’ll be bringing in about 1200 lbs of Syrah. This will be our first crush in the COVID reality, so we’ll be figuring it out as we go along. For starters, I’m thinking 3 up top: two loading fruit (positioning themselves and staggering their loads to be reasonably far apart), and one managing the top of the chute and the stems. Then downstairs, 2 people, maybe one pulling MOG in the chute, the other down in the fermenter doing the same.

Dunno. That’s how we’ll start and then we’ll adjust. Let’s get this thing started!

  • Need 5 people total (including Matt)
  • Bring a mask you’re comfortable wearing for that long
  • Assume 2 hours of cleaning and organizing
  • Wear shoes or boots you can get wet

COVID-19 NOTE: to stay as safe as possible, we’ll try our best to follow established guidelines: wear masks throughout; try to stay 6′ apart whenever possible; use as few people as possible; require anyone with a fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sudden loss of sense of smell, to stay home. We’ll keep the back door open for a little air circulation. Still, there are no guarantees: if you have any reservations (totally understandable), please don’t sign up for this event.
