A little flabby, jammy, hot, but def varietal character

Lovely dusky aromas. I can’t pick up a stylistic choice between Rioja and Ribera, but definite varietal character. Also a little flabby and jammy and hot, but not bad for 14.5% alcohol. With a bit of air, I get blueberry, licorice and anise on the nose, and a very late bit of menthol on the finish, some leather mid palate.

It’s weird. You can kind of taste the acid and oak fighting with each other. You can’t really call it balanced, but here are some elements of balance in evidence. Maybe it can come together more…
