2013 Labourier

Consensus: Drinking at what we think is its prime.
Les Garagistes Labourier Côtes du Rhône style blend
    EMV & Sugarloaf
  • ALCOHOL: 13.8%
  • A rich and fecund nose – you can really smell the Mourvèdre in it. Lovely in the mouth, great fruit but the Mourvèdre gives it character, complexity, a little rusticity, a little naughtiness. In fact, the Mourvèdre is the lead in this play. Easily the best Lab we've ever made, brooding but not murky or muddy (thanks in part to the Syrah/Viognier component, which shines some light and optimism into the darkness). Really great. 3.70pH
  • Still sulfury. Not a super lush nose perhaps as a result. Good weight in the mouth, though very vibrant, maybe a tad too acidic. Good clear fruit, good balance, okay finish. Still coming into its own; try in 2017
  • Not an opulent nose, for sure, but crisper and more focused. Satisfying in the mouth, but overall, kind of one dimensional right now, and not much finish to speak of. Maybe it’ll come around, but right now, it’s sleeping.
