2012 Sangiovese
Consensus: Drinking at what we think is its prime.

- VINEYARD:
Elephant Mountain Vineyard - pH AT BOTTLING: 3.35
- ALCOHOL: 14.5%
- Last time I tried the Sangio it had too much oak influence, but that was a year ago and it has receded. It has actual varietal typicity! Blue fruit and orange zest, lots of acidity, still a bit too tangy on the palate. Maybe a little leathery nose, nice cherry on the front palate. A little hot at 14.4%

- Amare! Deep, smoky, brooding nose, dried cherries and surprisingly Italian in its scent. Great depth in the fruit, but clear and focused. Really tastes varietal-typical — not always the case in stateside wines.
