Blending Trials: Pinot Noir
(Note: this blending trial is open to Pinot Noir side bet shareholders only. It does NOT count as a maintenance shift!)
With superhuman discipline in monastic silence (for the first 5 minutes, anyway), we’ll begin by assessing our two base Pinots: the Wadenswil and Pommard clones. Then we’ll try a few possible blends, trying to find a sum greater than the parts.
Once we settle on a final blend, we’ll then immediately make that blend, moving the wines out of their Pigs and into barrel for maturation until our main bottling in August.
- 6 people max (including Matt)
- Assume 2 to 3 hours
- No perfume, cologne, etc, please
- For the racking/blending into barrel afterward, bring rubber boots and clothing you can get a little winey
- Bring a snack to share if you like (optional)
Note: unlike maintenance shifts, please sign up every person attending (that is, 1 if only you; 2 if you’re signing up for both you and the person with whom you’re splitting a share).

This event is fully booked.
- Matt Giraud
- George Wehn
